Shared Experiences

Part of the work of the OCRD is to advise and assist in individual cases.  Indvidual cases referred to us or where young people themselves contact us have all been very different.  Here are some common expriences that give you an idea of some of the problems that young people are facing and the advice and help we have given to help sort the problems out. Why not tell us about your problems and how you have sorted them. This might help others going through a similar situation.

Permission to do Things

This case study is about a child whose mother refused to give the Local Authority her consent for her adughter to go on holiday with staff and other chidren from the children’s home where she was living.  On our advice, the Local Authority, sucessfully applied for a Section 8 “specific issues” Order, allowing the Court to make a decision that was clearly in the interests of the child and allowed her to go on holiday.
