Consultation.
Parents and children must be consulted about key decisions that are likely to have an affect on their lives.

Relationships with parents and children. Parents are expected to exercise control over their children in an appropriate way. Staff should set and maintain safe, consistent and understandable boundaries for parents and children in relation to acceptable behaviour.

Behaviour within the centre. The manager within the centre should make sure that parents, children and staff are aware of the consequences of unacceptable behaviour and what action can be taken in response to unacceptable behaviour. This may include the placement being ended. Physical restraint should only be used to prevent injury or serious damage to property. All restraints must be recorded.

Privacy. Staff respect the privacy of parents and children. Information about families is handled sensitively and confidentially.

Complaints. Parents and children should know how to and feel able to complain if they are unhappy about any aspect of living in the centre. Families should be kept updated with how their complaint is being deltas with. Complaints must be fully responded to within 28 days. All complaints must be recorded.
