5. Staff

Staffing arrangements.
The centre is managed and staffed in such a way that parents and children receive the care and services they need. There is a disciplinary procedure in place that deals with the action to be taken against a member of staff following any suspicion or allegation of abuse or any serious concern about the safety or welfare of children. All staff, including ancillary or sessional staff, are carefully selected and vetted.

Visitors. Visitors to the centre who have not been satisfactorily checked through the Criminal Records Bureau will be not allowed unsupervised access to the centre.

Staff skills. The centre should have sufficient staff, who are experienced and qualified to understand the needs of parents and children and who are able to respond to families needs when needed. Staff should receive training that gives them the skills needed to work with parents and children and fulfil the purpose of the centre.
